Privacy Policy
Profanity Filter for YouTube ("the extension") mutes swear words in YouTube videos. This policy explains what the extension does with information. The short version: it doesn't collect any.
What the extension does not do
- It does not collect, store, or transmit your browsing history, the videos you watch, or anything you type.
- It does not use analytics, tracking, advertising, or cookies of its own.
- It does not send any data to the developer. The developer runs no servers for this extension.
- It does not sell or share any data with anyone.
Information handled on your device
- Video captions. To know when to mute, the extension reads the captions of the video you are watching. They are requested from YouTube by your own browser, the same way YouTube's player requests them, and are processed only in your browser's memory. They are never saved or sent anywhere else.
- Your settings. Your choices (filter on/off, categories, words you skip or add, and mute timing) are saved with Chrome's storage. If you use Chrome Sync, Chrome may sync these settings between your own devices under Google's privacy policy. The developer has no access to them.
Permissions
- storage: to save your settings.
- Access to www.youtube.com: to read the captions of the video you're watching and mute the player while a filtered word is spoken. The extension does not run on any other site.
Children
The extension is suitable for use by families. It does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
